How to get to Kaieteur Falls
The cheapest way to get to Kaieteur Falls is with ASL (
Air Service Limited). They charge 145 USD (29,000 GYD) for a 4 hours tour to the falls. They fly Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday. They have an office at Ogle airport where there take credit cards, but tickets can also be bought at their downtown agent Connections Travel Service (6 Avenue of the Republic), but they don't take credit cards, cash only.
We arrived right to Guyana right after Christmas, and it turned out everything was booked. We called all the other airlines and were close to book a whole plane to our self, but then figured out that ASL sell tickets, which haven't been paid for the day before at 2 pm. So if everything is booked ask to stand by and go out to the airport and be ready to pay at 2 pm. It worked for us.
How to get to Barica
It's possible to make a daytrip to Barica, though a longer loop would be advised. Take minibus to Parika down from Stabroek Market in Georgetown (500 GYD). In Parika catch a speedboat to Barica (2500 GYD). Though Barica is a cold miner town, it's a fairly civilized place with sealed road, banks and even a KFC. There are plenty of hotels and guesthouses. If we had more time, we would have loved to continue the journey further south and then either backtrack to Georgetown by the road or continue all the way to Brazil.
