Palau was a part of my solo 7 weeks Micronesia trip, which had the following itinerary:
EU - (Cathay Pacific) - Philippines - (United Airlines) - Guam - (United Airlines) - Yap (FSM) - (United Airlines) - Majuro (RMI) - (Nauru Airlines) - Kiribati - (Nauru Airlines) - Nauru - (Nauru Airlines) - Pohnpei (FSM) - (United Airlines) - Palau - (United Airlines) - Philippines - (Cathay Pacific) - EU
I stayed in Koror and did day trips from there, along with a side trip to Peleliu Island for two nights.
Most tourists to Palau are either Chinese tour groups or Japanese divers.
No visa need for European passports.
Koror
Taxi within Koror is USD 5. As Koror is spread out, many restaurants offer pickup and drop off.
I rented a car from Budget for one day for USD 95 to see the sights on Babeldoab Island. They delivered and picked up the car to my accommodation in Koror.
The ferry to Peleliu Island leaves from the dock near Kramers Cafe in Koror. The big boat takes about 3 hours, while the small one takes 2 hours. The price is USD 15 + 1 or 2 for bags.

Peleliu Island
OK Cafe (see places to eat) also rents out bicycles for USD 15 day.
Koror
I stayed in the dorm at Dream House for USD 30 per night, the only budget option on Booking.com. It's a long walk from town, but you can always take a taxi.
Peleliu Island
I stayed two nights at Island View right at the dock, where a private room costed USD 60 per night (ph 345-1223). Call in advance to make reservation, else the hotel might be closed.
Koror
Tide Beach Bar and Grill a dish costs about USD 20-25.
There are many authentic Japanese restaurants.
Peleliu Island
Only place I found on the island was Ok Cafe (ph 345-2650), a long walk from the dock and Island View hotel. A cheese burger is about 12 usd. I believe the cafe is a part of Peleliu Adventures (ph 345-2090).
Jellyfish Lake
Day trip to Jellyfish Lake and some paradise-like islands costs about USD 125-150 + USD 100 for permit. Do Jellyfish Lake in the morning to avoid the Chinese tour groups in the afternoon.
Peleliu Island
You need a permit to see all the WWII sites (though I never showed it). It can be bought at the museum for USD 15 or at Peleliu Marine Transportation Authority at the north dock.
